The AI That Works for Us
A Conversation with Change Agent's Aram Fischer
Welcome to The Democratic Dilemma where we stop debating what needs to change and start building how to win.
This is Unfiltered Campaign Marketing for a New Generation — we demystify the how: winning in every district, defining real victory, building media that moves people (not algorithms), and developing leaders who ignite movements. Our mission? Floodlight the path forward. Justice doesn’t win elections, people do. We help you win real power, votes, volunteers, and small-dollar fuel on your terms, in your community.

Think of us as the political equivalent of a 90s mixtape meeting a TikTok algorithm — we’re the odd couple who actually make the whole thing work. Mary’s has the playbook; Josh’s has the vibe. The future of politics isn’t about one generation leading the other, it’s about both showing up, bringing their best, and creating something that works for everyone.

Let’s get after it.
Forget ChatGPT. For down-ballot campaigns and nonprofits, there’s finally an AI built by and for the social sector. It’s private, purpose-driven, and designed to amplify your mission, not Silicon Valley’s profits.
If you’re a down-ballot candidate or a small nonprofit team, you’ve felt it: the crushing weight of endless to-dos—fundraising emails, press releases, social posts, volunteer coordination all with limited time and resources. You’ve probably also heard the hype about AI as a potential solution, followed by the uneasy suspicion that these tools aren’t built with your values or your unique challenges in mind.
My recent conversation with Aram Fischer, Co-Founder and CEO of Change Agent AI, was a breath of fresh air. This isn’t another generic AI platform chasing shareholder value. As their “About Us” on their website states, they recognized that generative AI is “far too powerful to be left in the hands of those who prioritize shareholder value over social good” Their founding premise is that Big Tech’s “language is not our language, and their values are not our values”
Change Agent was built as a direct alternative. It’s a private platform, intentionally without a free tier, to maintain a trusted community and protect users including those under direct attack for their work in LGBTQ+, immigration, or reproductive rights. It is backed by a major civil rights organization, which is also its largest investor, ensuring accountability is to the movement, not the market.
Their ethical commitments are baked into the model: they’ve actively worked to address bias, are “staunchly pro-worker,” and have made green choices throughout their supply chain due to concerns about climate change.
But what does this actually do for a state house candidate or a local organizer? It’s about supercharging your process, workflow, and fundraising without losing your voice.
✔️ For Process & Workflow:
From my personal experience, “it helps tackle the “hugely time consuming” task of tailoring messages to different audiences—like farmers concerned about the farm bill and synthesizing it all into a compelling stump speech for that day’s agenda. It turns repetitive, patterned tasks (data entry, first drafts of platform planks, translating content) from a burden into a streamlined process, allowing small teams to “increase the volume of getting it out there”
✔️ For Fundraising & Voice:
This is where the “human excellence” meets AI efficiency. I have trained —> “The Candidate’s Voice & Values” profile within the tool, uploading exercises to hone her authentic tone and style. The result on a senatorial campaign? Using Change Agent to refine digital fundraising messaging drove the average contribution from $55 to $69 and lifted the conversion rate from 35% to 46%. The tool provides the strategic starting point—”a quarter to two-thirds down the field”—so you can focus on finessing the authentic, values-driven story that actually moves people. The tools give you the ability to tell the candidates story to drive fundraising goals - not those spammy fundraising emails we all hate! “
In the following conversation, Aram and I dissect how Change Agent operates as an extension of your team’s brain, not a replacement for it. We talk about dispelling AI myths, the importance of privacy, and how the right tool can empower—not replace—the human connection at the heart of all successful organizing.
This is the AI tool that asks, “How can we help you win?”
Let’s dive in.
